One of the most important things a student can do in working on his/her accent is to improve his/her listening skills.  Dictation can be an invaluable way to get practice with listening.  This website provides an excellent set of dictation exercises with a smooth and really easy process (the audio recording is played once at normal speed, then once slowly, then once quickly, with the text provided at the very end). The exercises start out at a very basic level and continue up to the highest level of difficulty.   This website is comprehensive enough for teachers who wish to give assignments or tests and simple enough for students who wish to practice on their own.
